Which seems odd to me.Īnybody got any advice? Apart from the usual "uninstall Zonealarm" routine. It just has to be open for the problem to occur. The really odd thing is that it crashes even when I don't have Emule connected. After altering the forwarding, however, I am getting fast connections.and the aforementioned crashes. I was getting LowID connections, of course, but otherwise there were no real problems. Odd thing is that it was working fine right up until I changed the port forwarding in my router. Programs won't respond, Task Manager is no help, only way to reboot is to do a manual reset. The problem is that after a few minutes of Emule being open, my desktop crashes. I then went through and did the changes to ZAP that somebody outlined above. I did all of the port forwarding outlined in the help files and FAQ. Zonealarm Pro 5 (latest version, the works) OK, I'm also having problems, details to follow:īillion BIPAC-5100 ADSL router (latest firmware installed) My biggest limitation is my connection can only handle 20 down/5 up so not sharing very fast. Fine with me that these are blocked, not sure if these are malformed/misconfigured clients or virus or what.Īnyway, very happy for over a week now with this configuration. They are not asking on any of the three ports I allow, the ports asking to connect on are all over the board. I still see in the firewall log some attempts to connect that were blocked (very few - handful per day). (To my mind, ZAPro should have worked with just the program config but it will still block at firewall level.) It appears that ZAPro must be opened up on both levels for the ports you want to allow to the program. I had messed around with just firewall expert rules, just program expert rules, and various combinations of each, ending up with all. ZAPro, Programs section, eMule program, options, expert rules: ZAPro, Programs section, eMule program, allow all trusted and internet access ZAPro, Firewall section, expert rules tab: Router: 4662 TCP open (for source exchange) Both ed2k and Kad are connected.ĮMule (0.42e, then 0.42g, then 0.43a, now 0.43b)Ħ0xxx port configured in eMule for TCP portĦ1xxx port configured in eMule for UDP port I posted the strangeness in the user support forum but got no answers there.īUT I finally solved all problems, and am happily running ZAPro on HIGH internet security setting! Running over a week now with high eMule activitity and no problems. I had my own problems with ZAPro 5 (installed, but internet firewall and trusted firewall OFF) and it drove me crazy. (Sygate Personal Firewall is just as free as ZoneAlarm, but I like the userinterface much better. Only with a low ID (no ports forwarded) Emule would run and even then it would freeze occasionally.Ĭompletely REMOVED (uninstalled) ZoneAlarm!ĭownloaded and installed Sygate Personal Firewall instead and now Emule runs d like hell! with a High Idĭon't use ZoneAlarm with Emule, completely remove it from your system! Tried everything: stopping ZoneAlarm, disabling Norton AV, lowering the max connections setting, nothing worked. Only solution is to reboot my computer with the ANY key (you know what the any key is: the label says: On/Off. However after a few seconds or minutes Emule hangs (freezes) and can't be stopped. This post has been edited by exactopposite: 05 July 2004 - 03:35 AM i'll see if i still have the older version. so far so good but it's only been about 10 minutes. right now i'm tryng to see if emule will run when i turn off the anti virus and email scan features in zone alarm. maybe i'll just switch back to zone alarm 4.x instead of 5. if anyone has any suggestions on how to make the 2 programs play nice togther i'd appreciate it.īefore all this i have been able to run a vonage VOIP box, router and 2 other computers on my network and neve have an issue with emule. i have been using zone alarm pro since version 1.0 and i don't want to switch to anything else really. i hate that it interferes wtih emule but i can't give up my firewall for a p2p program. if i remember correctlly i didn't have any problems with emule until i started using the latest zone alarm pro. You guys have got me thinking about the whole Zone Alarm emule connection. until recentlly i have ran emule for days at a time with no problem sometimes if i wait a while it'll actually start back working but then i have a low id. i never had any problems until recentlly. I'm running winxp and when i start emule it locks up after a few minutes and the only solution is to physically turn the computer off.
